An outline has no paint in it
OTF and WOFF store shapes. Converting Fruit-A-Punch to one would throw away the colour, the texture and the light that make it what it is — you would get a silhouette. So the letters stay images, and a small web component sets them like type: real baselines, kerning, line breaks, wrapping and alignment.
